Course Curriculum:

• Docking Techniques: Hands-on practice approaching and leaving a floating dock, bow-in and stern-in docking into a slip using one of our ICST training boats;
• Maneuvering in Close Quarters: Low-speed steering control, pivot turns, effects of prop-walk and throttle control;
• Environmental Considerations: Adapting to wind and currents;
• Equipment Familiarization: Fender positioning, use of lines, cleats and boat hooks;
• Communication and Crew Coordination: Effective teamwork, look outs and communication protocols; and
• Line Handling: Proper line management and Knots to Know!
